SELLING · Shoppy Guide
The Shoppy photo playbook
6 essential tips
Plain background — always
White wall, white sheet, or neutral floor. Remove everything from the frame. The item is the only subject. No exceptions.
Natural daylight only
Shoot near a window in daylight — never flash or yellow indoor light. Bad lighting makes even great pieces look cheap.
Use only your own real photos
Never use brand website or stock images. Buyers are buying your item in its current condition — show them exactly what they're getting.
Photograph every single flaw
Pilling, a loose thread, a small stain — show it all. Honest listings get better reviews and zero disputes.
Include the original tag
A visible brand tag significantly increases buyer trust. For luxury items, photograph serial tags, authenticity cards, and inside labels.
Add a real worn photo as shot 2
Put on the item and photograph yourself wearing it. Show how it looks on a body. This single addition dramatically increases how fast you sell.
